Episode 2: Deliveries

Summary

Encounter 1:
The players are in Mos Espa to pick upp supplies when they are contacted by associates of Bargos the Hutt. They meet the representative in a cantina and get a mission to 1. Go by train and deliver medical supplies to the small town of tranquility, north of Espa. Two days later they are to steal medical supplies from a caravan of sandcrawlers using swoopbikes. After thinking about the mission for a while they discover a microphone under the table in the shape of a spider. They shoot it and agree to the mission. Ace is also brought to arkona who asks him to take part in a game in tranquility and win back one of her slaves. He agrees, reluctantly.

Encounter 2:
The train trip goes well but during an inspection (a type of milita working for the empire, remember, parallel universe so we basically kill canon in this game) where it is discovered that the meds have a faulty labeling. Hawk uses charm to get the officer to skip his findings. Fingers takes samples from the delivery to have the medical droid at the farm analyze it.

Encounter 3:
They stake out the drop off point and find the meds are being taken to a place called Tranquility Clinic. They also notice a clinic with a lot of people outside in line to receive treatment. They get to know about the empires new restrictions on medical handling and that the prices have gone up. The only place they can receive treatment is from the doc at this clinic. Ace gets in to a gambling session and tries to win back the twi´lek friend for Arkona. He fails. When the winning gambler leaves the establishment they however try to convince the new “owner” to give her to them as Nikolai who made her slave at the first place (also the gambler hosting the game) sends out troops to obtain the dancer the pc:s have a shootout with them. Here Cinder rolled a triumph and gunned down a minion group of thugs the first round. They make it to the train and leave. On the farm they receive a verbal run down from maydar about them not doing their shores. They try to get some work done the next day. The day after they are to go hunting for the crawlers.
Encounter 4 They use the swoops to get up ontop of the crawler. I had one pilot check from Hawk with assistance dice for the whole group (how would you have done it?). They broke in to the crawler and met 3 security droids in bad shape trying to stop them. Ace shot and did a triumph roll which ended up in destroying the minion group (is that ok in the system? Minion groups being taken out like that?) After obtaining the medicine they leave the crawler convoy but are being chased by a group of swoops. I ran this encounter using one pilot check for the group. They got a despair and I had them moving through a system of caves in a mountain ladscape and suddenly they were in a dead end but there was a krayt dragon that started to chase them. They had to do chase rolls against all followers and I used speed and starting distance to keep the threats apart. With another triumph they and 3 setback I had the dragon destroy the hunters all but the main adversary spiker which discontinued the hunt.

Conclusion
They got the reward of 17000 but due to obligations and needing to buy parts for a solar power sail on the farm they only got some pocket money. It is very important to keep the money scarse in this campaign and we agreed on that solution.

Vontha, gangster in service of Bargos the hutt In tranquility Vontha have a shadowdocs and facilities that can serve as a cheaper alternative to the official medical institution. However, to bring down costs Vontha have tried to obtain fake medications from the blue planets. The fake meds are sometimes working but seldom, they are everything from sugar pills to flat out dangerous medications. Like administering cytostatica pills to someone not sick with cancer. Bad, bad side effects that really threatens the life of the patient. So, don´t think that Vontha is interested in doing society something good. He is probably going to cause a lot of problems and even deaths. To start up the business there are two things that need to happen. The first thing is getting the fake drugs to tranquility and two days after that, make sure the delivery of real medicines never make it there except through Vontha´s channels. He needs to snatch the real medicine transport out to tranquility. The one the good Samaritan and countryside doctor Doc Armin Brinch ordered to be able to keep treating his patients. Simple enough…

Bandis Rikker, is also interested in starting his own medical network. He is an influential politician with a family deeply involved in supplying medical supplies to the empire. He was one of the senators orchestrating the new and tighter laws around medical handling and production as a way to provide further business opportunities for his family’s medical company. At the same time he knows the opportunities on the black market are arising and wants to take part using associates all over the outer and mid rim. Branching out from the blue planets he started setting up shadow medical facilities through a criminal syndicate. (No Bandis Rikker reqruits Spiker and his swoopgang)

The real medicine in the crawler is ordered by Doc Armin Brinch, a good old fashioned countryside doctor with a strong will to help people in need. He moved out from the core systems to the outer rim and finally settled on tattooine with a few of his friends with the same goal. They are deeply annoyed by the new rules and run their medical facility with low resources low costs and with a lot of heart.
